Te Pou Theatre is excited to announce a Venue Technician internship

This paid internship aims to guide rangatahi Māori to confidently learn about technical equipment used to stage events (lighting, sound), understand how to maintain and care for equipment, and rig lights and audio. This is an immersive engagement where the Kaihāpai / Intern will be mentored to develop skills within a kaupapa Māori performing arts context.

Why be involved? 

Over the placement period, the Kaihāpai o Muri (intern) will…

  • Learn about all things venue and technical related within a supportive context
  • Gain practical experience working on events staged at Te Pou Theatre
  • Be supported with specialised courses such as first aid and other professional development opportunities
  • Build networks and connections
  • Learn skills that can lead to viable career opportunities
  • The internship will be between 8 – 10 weeks (July – September)
  • This is a paid internship placement – part time 20 hours per week
  • Paid from $26 per hour.

Mā wai tēnei mahi? | Who can apply?

  • Rangatahi Māori who have a passion and interest for tech!
  • Interest in Te Ao Māori, understanding of tikanga Māori and working in a kaupapa Māori context 
  • Desire to develop technical skills and a commitment to develop a career in the performing  arts 
  • Positive and collaborative attitude keen to learn and be part of a team
