Calling all creative rangatahi! Join us for a FREE hands-on filmmaking workshop where you will develop an idea, create a story and bring it to life on screen. Explore directing, acting, camera, sound and editing while making your own short film.
No filmmaking experience is needed. You’ll be guided throughout the workshop by Ngā Pakiaka – rangatahi filmmakers trained to lead and support other rangatahi through the filmmaking process. Grounded in the E Tū Whānau values of aroha, whanaungatanga, whakapapa, mana manaaki, kōrero awhi and tikanga, the workshop is a place to share your ideas, build confidence and develop new creative skills.
Come along, meet other rangatahi and bring your stories to the screen! You’ll finish the workshop with a completed short film to enter to the E Tū Whānau Rangatahi Film Awards!

Ethan (Tipo) Seddon Cope (Ngāpuhi), also known by Tipo has been surrounded by film all his life but has formerly been in the creative industry for 9 years. Studying at Te Kunenga ki Pūrehuroa, Tipo graduated with a Bachelor’s in Creative Media Production (now known as BSA) specialising in post production & video editing. He landed work with Xtreme Forwarding in 2022 doing private freighting logistics for film and music. Notable projects include Avatar Way of Water and Minecraft.
After a year of fulfilling mahi, he was encouraged to apply for MATCH, a Māoriland kaupapa that focused on upskilling rangatahi in the animation space. Upon completion of the program, Tipo now works as a Technical Producer and is the Māoriland Film Festival’s Programming Lead – Te Ringa Matau o MFF. His most recent endeavors in the last year have been involved in Māoriland’s Indigenous Co-Lab & facilitating film workshops for rangatahi across the country.
Waitahi Aniwaniwa McGee (Ngāti Wai, Ngāti Tūwharetoa, Ngāti Maniapoto, Ngāti Pākeha, Ngāti Tama ki te tau Ihu and Te Ātiawa) is an artist, facilitator and producer based in Te Whanganui-a-Tara. Their mahi sits across filmmaking, performing arts, rangatahi development, community spaces and kaupapa Māori storytelling. They have worked with organisations including Māoriland Film Festival, Aotearoa New Zealand Festival of the Arts, Verb Wellington and Petone Community House, with experience in facilitation, production, logistics, artist liaison and programme coordination.
The Whakapuāwai Programme at Te Pou Theatre is an annual programme offering opportunities for development and connection for the Māori performing arts community.

Intimacy Coordination is about cultivating a safe and professional environment for the crafting of intimate content on screen and stage. This workshop will provide participants with valuable tools and language that will add to your kete & professional practice.
Bringing back our popular Te Pou Awe acting workshops for 2024, we are inviting whānau Māori of the industry to come along and have a play with some acting. Facilitated by Tainui Tukiwaho, covering the many facets of acting and what makes Māori Theatre.
