Te Pou Theatre is excited to announce a new producing internship supporting the delivery of Kōanga Festival. This opportunity is for early to mid career Māori producers wanting to take the next step in their producing journey.
Te Tono | The Offer
This internship is for early-to-mid career Māori performing arts professionals who are keen to build on and extend their producing practice, while working within a kaupapa Māori theatre venue. This is an exciting opportunity to work within a close knit team to deliver Te Pou Theatre’s annual Kōanga Festival 2025.
Why be involved?
Over the placement period, the Producer Pia (intern) will…
• Gain practical, hands-on producing experience working on key projects as part of the festival programme.
• Be based at Te Pou Theatre, the Producing Pia be supported by a senior producer.
• Have the flexibility for this internship to be part-time, leading into full-time over the festival period.
• The internship will be between 8 – 10 weeks.
• This is a paid internship placement
Mā wai tēnei mahi? | Who can apply?
• Early-to-mid career Māori producers (having produced at least 1-2 shows/productions/projects)
• Interest in Te Ao Māori, understanding of tikanga Māori and producing in a kaupapa Māori context
• Knowledge of te reo Māori (ideal)
• A commitment to developing a career in producing and a desire to further develop producorial skills
• Great time management, computer literacy and experience with budgets
• Passion for the performing arts and creative industries
• Positive and collaborative attitude, with a desire to make things happen
• Good interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
Producing Pia must have the right to live and work in Aotearoa and work at Te Pou Theatre in Waitākere in Tāmaki Makaurau. This is a fixed term paid internship. See position description here.
